THE POWER OF A TICKET
Tix for Tots Celebrates 300,000 event opportunities for children in need
April 13, 2010 - Tix for Tots, a St. Paul based non-profit, believes in the power a single ticket can have in the life of a child. On Friday, April 9th, Tix for Tots celebrated 300,000 tickets given to Twin Cities children in-need.

Since 2001, Tix for Tots has focused on helping children in need discover new worlds and opportunities through sporting and cultural events throughout the Twin Cities. The Tix for Tots concept is simple. Patrons and venues have tickets they are unable to use. These tickets are donated to Tix for Tots and distributed to children in need through a network of 350 non-profit partners. The experience can mean different things to different kids - but to all it is significant. For kids dealing with homelessness, it's an escape from the shelter; for kids in mentoring programs, it's a chance to strengthen the bond the share with their mentor; for kids who are undergoing medical treatments, it's a much-needed break from the hospital; and for those struggling in school it is an incentive to keep going in the right direction.

"I'm proud of the impact we're making on children in our community," said Robb Neunschwander, president and founder of Tix for Tots. "We are able to take donated tickets to local events and put them in the hands of children who would otherwise not have that chance. All children deserve to have new worlds and experiences opened to them and Tix for Tots has made that possible for thousands of kids."

Rhonda Vopava-Geyette, 5th and 6th Grade teacher at Minneapolis's Marcy Open School calls Tix for Tots, phenomenal. "The Tix for Tots events provide opportunities for our teachers to inspire their classes. At the final Twins game at the Dome our teachers used the opportunity to have their students do baseball multiplication, test on baseball spelling words and write "Ode to the Dome" essays. Tix for Tots has been integral in helping the students at Marcy Open School succeed!"

Tix for Tots, located in St. Paul, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of providing children with the experiences today to inspire the dreams, hopes and achievements of tomorrow. These experiences include athletic events, concerts, theater performances, museum exhibits and more.

Beyonce Sings on a Good Note
Tix for Tots and the Newman Foundation partner for kids and a night of Beyonce!

ST. PAUL, Minn. – July 13, 2009 – Tix for Tots, a Twin Cities-based non-profit, and the Newman Foundation have partnered to benefit children affected by hunger. This partnership involves a special guest: multi-Grammy award winning performer, Beyonce. Her upcoming concert on July 16th at the Target Center will benefit families affected by hunger in this struggling economy. Through the generosity of the Newman Foundation, Tix for Tots will provide 100 tickets to Beyonce’s concert to children in our community affected by hunger.

Tix for Tots believes in the power that a single ticket can have in the life of a child. For the past eight years, Tix for Tots has provided more than 270,000 opportunities for kids in need to discover the thrills and magic of sporting and cultural events throughout the Twin Cities. “Since our inception eight years ago, we have grown each year by offering more experiences to a wider group of deserving children and this is in large part due to the partnerships we have built in the community,” said Robb Neuenschwander, president and founder of Tix for Tots. This new partnership with the Newman Foundation will provide an amazing experience for one hundred children, many of whom have never been to a concert or even stepped inside the Target Center. “We take donated tickets to local events and put them in the hands of children who would otherwise not have that chance. All children deserve to have new worlds and experiences opened to them and Tix for Tots makes that possible.”

The Newman Foundation supports programs of National and International significance that promote medical research and discovery in humans and animals that add to the quality of life and longevity of their lives.
